The Verdict

It depends on the project. A booking app that must be in the App Store: Emergent, because VibeDream does not make native apps. Three small sites that change a couple of times a month: VibeDream, where publishing costs about 30 credits a month against at least 150 on Emergent. A browser game for friends: VibeDream. A single web app on a tight budget that rarely changes: Emergent Standard at $20 can be cheaper, as long as it stays one app.

Store apps, or several sites online

VibeDream vs Emergent compares two chat-first builders that charge for hosting in different ways. Pick Emergent if you need a native mobile app as well as a web app; it builds both, with databases and APIs set up for you. Pick VibeDream if you want web apps or games and plan to keep several of them online, since it charges a flat 5 credits each time you publish an update rather than a monthly charge per live app.

Emergent starts cheaper, at $20 a month with a free plan, and that matters if you only run one app.

Checked Oct 2026. Emergent facts come from emergent.sh/pricing and Emergent's docs page on putting an app live. VibeDream facts come from our pricing page and getting started guide.

A habit tracker and a space shooter

Use one prompt on both on the same day: "A habit tracker where I tick off each habit for today and see my streak." Then try a game: "A space shooter where I dodge asteroids and collect stars for points." For each, record minutes to a working preview, follow-ups and credits used, and open the result on a phone.

On VibeDream, the live preview starts in seconds and fills in as the AI builds. Switch between desktop and phone view and change things by chatting or by voice. Describe a game and it is built with Phaser, playable in the preview.

Who sets up the database

Emergent's site says databases and APIs are set up for you and that the code it generates is yours. VibeDream apps include a FastAPI backend in Python, written into your project, and the Aesthetic Waitlist template shows a page that saves signups automatically. File storage for uploads comes with your plan: 25GB on All Access Mini and 1TB on All Access. One-tap login and database work today, and one-tap payments are coming soon.

Paying to stay online or paying to publish

Emergent's docs say a live app costs between 50 and 1,100 credits a month, depending on the publishing tier. On Standard's 100 monthly credits, two apps on the lowest tier use the full allowance before any building.

VibeDream charges when you publish, not while the app sits online. Tap Put it online, pick a vibedreams.ai name and press the button for 5 credits. It usually takes 1 to 3 minutes, with HTTPS. The live site stays on that version until you press Update it, which costs another 5 credits. For your own domain, add a TXT and a CNAME record and HTTPS turns on automatically. The deployment guide covers each step.

For someone with three small sites that rarely change, that difference adds up over a year.

A year with three small sites

Here is a simple worked example using each company's published numbers. Say you run three small sites: a booking page, a waitlist and a portfolio. Each changes about twice a month.

On Emergent, the lowest publishing tier of 50 credits a month per app means at least 150 credits a month for the three, or 1,800 credits over a year, before any building. Standard includes 100 credits a month, so you would need extra credits or a higher plan just to keep the three online.

On VibeDream, publishing costs 5 credits per update. Two updates a month for three sites is 30 credits a month, or 360 a year. All Access Mini includes 60 credits a month, so hosting costs stay well inside the plan and leave room for building.

Your numbers will differ, and building credits vary with how much you change. The point is the shape of the bill: Emergent charges for staying online, VibeDream charges for publishing changes. If your sites change daily, or you only run one, redo the sum with your own numbers.

Plan prices next to each other

VibeDream:

  • All Access Mini: $49 a month or $297 a year, 60 credits, 3 active projects, 25GB storage.
  • All Access: $97 a month or $497 a year, 150 credits, 5 active projects, 1TB storage.
  • No free plan. Credit packs from 50 credits for $30. 5 credits per publish; hosting, the address and your own domain included.

Emergent:

  • Free: $0, 10 credits a month.
  • Standard: $20 a month, or $17 billed yearly, 100 credits a month, web and mobile apps, GitHub integration.
  • Pro: $200 a month, or $167 billed yearly, 750 credits, 1M context window, custom agents.
  • Business and Enterprise: custom pricing.

Emergent starts cheaper and has a free plan. Once you keep apps live, add at least 50 credits a month for each one.

Phone apps and links

Emergent says it builds mobile apps as well as web apps. Publishing any app to the Apple App Store or Google Play also needs your own developer accounts and passing each store's review.

VibeDream does not make native app-store apps. Its apps run on the web and work on phones, and its games are built to play on phones and computers from a link. For many projects, such as a booking page, a tracker or a game for friends, a link is all people need. A link also updates instantly when you publish, with no store review in between, and many phone browsers let people add a web app to their home screen so it opens like any other app.

Where Emergent is the better buy

Emergent is the better buy when you need a store-listed mobile app next to the web app, when you want databases and APIs set up for you without thinking about them, or when you will only keep one or two apps live. It also lets you try it on a free plan, which VibeDream does not. VibeDream is the better buy for games, for several small sites at once, and for anyone who wants a real person on support when stuck.

Support when you are stuck

On VibeDream, paste the error into the chat and the AI fixes it, while the live site keeps its last published version. If you are still stuck, a real person answers at hello@vibedream.ai. Emergent's Pro plan lists priority support. Whichever you choose, try asking support one real question during your first week to see how quickly you get an answer.

Moving from Emergent to VibeDream

Push the Emergent project to GitHub first, using its GitHub integration on Standard or above, so you keep the source. Then describe the app in a new VibeDream project and attach screenshots of each screen. Rebuild page by page, import your data, and switch your domain over with the TXT and CNAME records once the new version works. If your app needs outside API keys, add them in API keys and settings.
