Durable AI website builder review, judged job by job for a small service business

For a sole trader or small service business, the Durable AI website builder is one of the best ways to get a decent site, online bookings and a simple customer list without hiring anyone. Durable calls itself a complete AI business builder, and the label fits: the website is one part, with SEO tools, a CRM, bookings and AI agents for blog posts and review replies around it. Its limits are design individuality and anything custom. A cleaner, a dog groomer or a bookkeeper will be well served. A brand that needs to look unlike anyone else, or a business that needs its own tools, will not.

Feature reviews tend to blur together, so this one checks Durable against the five jobs a service business actually needs its website to do, and gives each a plain verdict. Plans and features come from durable.com/pricing, checked Oct 2026. There is no timed build here; generated sites vary between runs, so try the brief near the end yourself.

Job one, getting online today

Durable's homepage promises you can get online in 30 seconds, and the claim is about the first draft: you give your business type and location, and Durable generates pages, copy and images straight away. The editor is deliberately simple. You change sections, swap images and rewrite text without wading through layout settings. Hosting runs on Cloudflare, with SSL and unlimited traffic on every plan.

Getting the site on your own address needs a paid plan. Launch lets you connect a domain you own or register one with up to $20 of value included, and Grow raises that to $40. The Free plan is a preview to see what Durable makes for your business, with 300 AI credits in total.

Verdict: excellent. Nothing in this group is faster from zero to a presentable site.

Job two, being found on Google and in AI answers

This is where Durable has invested most in 2026. Every plan gets optimised metadata, auto-tagged headings, structured data, a sitemap and robots.txt. Launch adds what Durable calls advanced SEO and GEO: keyword research, an llms.txt file for AI assistants, Google Business Profile tools, listings in 10 or more local directories, consistency checks on your business name, address and phone, and email requests for reviews. AI agents can draft blog posts and reply to Google reviews in the background.

Verdict: strong for a local business, with one caution. AI blog posts are a draft, not a strategy. Posts that read like everyone else's rarely rank, so edit them with real jobs, real prices and real places you serve.

Job three, turning visitors into bookings and leads

Launch includes unlimited bookings synced to your calendar, custom intake questions and paid bookings, so a client can pick a slot and pay a deposit on your site. Custom forms capture leads, and Durable says its agents can capture and reply to leads automatically. Durable also states it includes built-in payment processing.

Where it stops is logic of your own. A quote that changes with property size, a multi-step form that branches by service, or a booking rule like "no Saturday slots for jobs over three hours" are outside what a hosted builder like this is designed for. Durable's FAQ is direct about it: it is a no-code product and does not offer extensive HTML customisation, though paid plans list custom code for small additions.

Verdict: good for standard bookings, weak for anything rule-based.

Job four, keeping track of customers

The built-in CRM holds up to 10 customers on Free and unlimited on Launch and Grow. Leads from forms and bookings land in it, so a sole trader can see who enquired, who booked and who has not replied without a separate tool. Grow adds unlimited team members, a one-to-one onboarding call, and automatic translation of your whole site with a language switcher.

Verdict: fine for one to five people. A business with a sales pipeline, quotes and invoices will still want dedicated software alongside it.

Job five, editing and growing later

Small edits are easy, and AI credits cover rewrites: 1,000 a month on Launch and 5,000 on Grow. Bigger changes are harder, because generated layouts follow familiar patterns and the editor trades control for simplicity. Durable hosts the site and there is no code export. If you leave, Durable says it will arrange to transfer a domain registered through it, which takes a couple of weeks and has a minimum subscription time, but the site itself stays behind.

Verdict: easy to maintain, hard to outgrow gracefully. Keep your own copies of text and photos.

What Durable costs

  • Free: $0. A site preview, 300 AI credits in total, a CRM for up to 10 customers, help-centre support.
  • Launch: $25 a month, or $22 a month billed yearly. Your own domain or one registered with up to $20 included, branding removed, advanced SEO and GEO, unlimited bookings with paid bookings, 1,000 AI credits a month, priority live chat.
  • Grow: $49 a month, or $41 a month billed yearly. Everything in Launch plus unlimited team members, automatic site translation, a $40 domain credit, 5,000 AI credits a month and personalised onboarding.

For most sole traders, Launch on yearly billing is the plan: $264 a year for a site, bookings, a CRM and local SEO tools is fair value set against hiring a designer.

When the site needs to be more than a site

If job three failed for you because of a custom quote or rule, an app builder is the better fit. VibeDream builds a React front end with a FastAPI backend in Python from a chat, so a price estimate by size and coat type, or a quote that adds travel distance, is code the AI writes for you. Start from the Aesthetic Landing Page template and change it by describing what you want. Putting it online costs 5 credits per publish, with hosting and HTTPS included, and your own domain works on www or a subdomain. You can download the code or sync it to GitHub.

Be clear about what you give up. VibeDream has no CRM, no review-reply agents and no directory listings, and its one-tap payments are coming soon. Plans start at $49 a month with no free plan. For a standard local service site, Durable is the better product.

A website for a mobile dog grooming service in Austin: services and prices, the neighbourhoods we cover, a booking form, common questions, and a price estimate that changes with dog size and coat type.

Paste that into Durable and into one alternative. Durable will have the pages up almost immediately. The price estimate is the test of whether you need a site builder or an app builder.
