Pick Durable alternatives by the thing that made you start looking. For a site that looks like nobody else's, Framer. For a real online store, Shopify or Wix. For a custom feature such as a quote calculator or a client area, an app builder like VibeDream. For a content-heavy site built around a big blog, WordPress, with 10Web if you want AI to set it up. If none of those is your problem, stay put: Durable is very good at what it does.
What Durable does is get a service business online fast, with bookings, a CRM and local SEO tools around the site. Launch is $25 a month, or $22 billed yearly, and Grow is $49, or $41 billed yearly, checked Oct 2026 on durable.com/pricing. Our Durable review judges it job by job. This guide starts from the gaps.
When you want more design control
Durable generates good sites from familiar patterns, and its editor keeps things simple on purpose. That is a feature until your brand needs a layout, typeface treatment or animation the editor will not allow. Then you want a canvas.
- Framer is the strongest pick. It works like a design tool, with control over every breakpoint, plus a CMS and AI agents that edit inside your project. Basic is $10 a month and Pro $30 a month per site on yearly billing. Expect a learning curve if you have not used design software. The Framer review covers it.
- Wix sits in the middle. Its AI builds a starting site, then a drag-and-drop editor lets you move anything. US yearly plans start around $17 a month, and prices vary by country.
What you give up: Durable's bookings, CRM and review tools. Framer has none of them built in, so you would add a booking tool alongside it.
When you need a proper online store
Durable's own FAQ says it is not designed specifically for ecommerce, though some customers have sold through it. Paid bookings cover deposits for services. A catalogue of physical products with stock, shipping rates and tax is a different job.
- Shopify is the default for product sellers, with inventory, shipping, checkout and point-of-sale. Plans and prices vary by country, so check shopify.com/pricing for yours.
- Wix has ecommerce on its business plans and suits a small shop that also wants a content site.
- 10Web includes an ecommerce dashboard on every plan and sells a separate ecommerce plan with WooCommerce set up for you, if you want WordPress underneath.
When the site needs custom features or real app logic
This is the gap Durable is most open about. It is a no-code product, its FAQ says it does not offer extensive HTML customisation, and its features are the ones it ships. A price estimate that changes with property size, a multi-step quote form that branches by service, or a small area where clients check job status will not fit.
VibeDream is built for this. You describe the site and the feature in a chat, and it writes a React front end with a FastAPI backend in Python, so the estimate rule is real code you can read in the built-in editor. Start from a template such as Aesthetic Landing Page, or attach a screenshot of your Durable site to keep its look. Putting it online costs 5 credits per publish with hosting and HTTPS included. Your own domain connects with a TXT and a CNAME record on www or a subdomain; root domains are not supported yet, so forward the bare domain to www. You can download the code as a ZIP or sync it to GitHub at any time.

The honest trade: VibeDream has no CRM, no review-reply agents and no directory listings, and its one-tap payments are coming soon. All Access Mini is $49 a month with 60 credits, All Access $97 with 150, and there is no free plan. If your only need is a standard local site with bookings, Durable is cheaper and quicker.
When content is the business
Durable's AI agents publish blog posts and handle the technical SEO basics well for a local business. A site where writing is the product, with hundreds of articles, categories, authors, newsletters and editorial workflows, needs a real content system.
- WordPress is still the deepest choice for content. 10Web generates a WordPress site with AI and hosts it, from $20 a month or $10 billed yearly. See the 10Web review.
- Framer's CMS suits a design-led blog of modest size. Basic allows 2 collections and 1,000 items, and Pro starts at 10 collections and 2,500 items.
- Keep Durable for the business site and run the publication separately if the two audiences differ.
Switching without losing customers
- Export what you can from Durable's CRM and bookings before you cancel, and note upcoming appointments by hand if needed.
- Copy your page text and download your photos. Durable hosts the site and there is no code export.
- If Durable registered your domain, ask it to transfer the domain to you. Its FAQ says this takes a couple of weeks and has a minimum subscription time, so start early.
- Rebuild on the new tool, test every form and booking flow, then point the domain at it.
- Update your Google Business Profile and directory listings if the booking link changes.
